Kimberly Hatley M.Ed. LPC LMFT is the Co-Founder of Coppell Counseling Center, which opened in 1993. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas.  Ms. Hatley completed her graduate degree from the respected counseling program at the University of North Texas in 1984. Her undergraduate was earned at Texas Tech University. She is passionate about advocacy for her clients’ mental health needs and professionals by assuming leadership roles in Texas Counseling Association and other volunteer organizations in the community. 

Ms. Hatley enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families who might need compassionate support facing a variety of challenging life issues. Special interests include counseling clients about concerns relating to life transitions, stress management, change & loss, anxiety, depression, work / life balance, alternative lifestyles and parenting issues. She presents education seminars for professionals and consumers on many mental health topics.

Ms. Hatley provides employee assistance programs services to businesses which need consultation after dramatic events, such as lay-offs, working with human resource professionals and business owners on conflict resolution and management concerns, and helping with recovery from traumatic experiences, which affect employees. 

Ms. Hatley has lived in Coppell with her family for over twenty years, participating in response to the amazing growth and development of the community with families, schools and businesses. She welcomes calls with questions regarding the process of counseling and mental health consultation from the community.

Janie Garrett is a Licensed Social Worker.  She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.  She began her career in 1977 and gained experience through the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation and several private psychiatric hospitals. Ms. Garrett has practiced privately in Coppell since 1988 and her interests include individual and family therapy and chemical dependency issues.  She is married and has a son and two stepchildren.

Dr. Zrnic is a licensed child,  adolescent and adult psychiatrist.  He completed his  psychiatric residency program and child psychiatry fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.  He is a  Board Certified clinical assistant professor at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he supervises residents and medical students.  Dr. Zrnic joined Coppell Counseling Center in 2004.  His area of expertise is ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and Psychosis.  Dr. Zrnic provides individual and family therapy as well as medication management.  He lives in Coppell with his wife and three children

Chris Riddick is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  He earned his graduate degree in counseling from the University of North Texas in 1992.  Mr. Riddick is passionate about providing counseling services for individuals, couples, and families.  His expertise lies with providing counseling services to all areas that impact adolescents.  Chris Riddick worked with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services – Child Protection Division with children and adolescents who had been abused and neglected.  He also spent time working with the Collin County Women Shelter and Millwood Psychiatric Hospital.  He is married and has two children.

I am a licensed psychologist with over 24 years experience in the mental health field. I provided services to children, adolescents, families, couples, and adults. I specialize in treating children and adolescents for school-related issues including school phobia, anxiety, ADHD, behavior problems, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and learning issues. I provided ADHD assessments and other psychological testing for children and adolescents.  Many of my child and adolescent clients are referred for behavioral issues as well. She works with a wide variety of issues, including stress, depression, adjustment issues to moves and divorces, grief related issues, and substance abuse.  I have specialized training in working with families as well. As the past administrator of an adoption agency, I have specialized knowledge of the issues related to adopting children.

My work with adults includes couples work (premarital, marital. and divorce issues). I also help adults individually who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, financial stress, job-related issues, substance abuse, relationship problems, and many other issues. I recently began working with military families who are adjusting to pre-and post-deployment changes in their families. About half of my practice is geared towards counseling adults.

I have worked in many community agencies. My work with these agencies involved working with children in the area of school psychology, sexual and physical abuse, forensic issues, juvenile delinquency, and family problems. I was the administrator of a local nonprofit agency where I ran an adoption program, counseling agency, and substance abuse program for adolescents. When working with children and adolescents, family involvement is crucial. I try to work very closely with the parents of these children as well.

In 1999, I was elected President of the Dallas Psychological Association. I have two offices, located in Coppell and Irving. My office manager, Catherine, will return your call to set up an appointment and send you the paperwork for the first session. I work interactively with my clients to provide the best professional service including establishing timely treatment goals. I work especially diligently at making children and adolescents feel comfortable seeking help for their problems. Russ Crites is a licensed professional counselor, a licensed marriage and family therapist and a licensed specialist in school psychology (LSSP).  He is also a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, is a certified Irlen screener (problems with reading due to distortions on the page), and is a certified Hypnotherapist.   He graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1976 with a master’s degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology.  Post masters work was completed in order to obtain the certifications/licenses necessary to work with public schools doing psychological testing, behavioral management, individualized behavior plans, and behavioral IEP’s for students.  Russ has worked with students in public/private schools for over twenty-five years providing these services.  As a result, one of his strengths is working with students who have school related issues. 

His specialties include working with students who have ADHD, Asperger, School Phobia, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, General Anxiety, etc.  In addition to traditional treatment, Russ utilizes biofeedback to address ADHD issues, e.g., inattention, off task, focusing issues.   Russ has written a book entitled, Bipolar or ADHD that provides practical tools for both parents and educators.  Although Russ has come to work at Coppell Counseling Center, he will continue to work with schools utilizing his License as a Specialist in School Psychology.

Dr. Scott Hickman is a licensed clinical psychologist.  He’s been practicing in the mental  health field for over 10 years.  He received his Doctor of Psychology from Rosemead School of Psychology, in La Mirada,  California and completed his psychology residency in the United States  Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.  He currently serves  as a Staff Psychologist at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, working with Active Duty Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and their families.  

In his private practice, he work individually with adults and adolescents, facing a range of issues from personal growth desires to anxiety, depression, and grief.  Because of his Active Duty experience, he has a unique perspective on what it means to serve in the military  and how this impacts both the Active Duty member, as well as his or her family.  He works with military members and their family  members as they struggle with various military-related issues, such as  pre- and post-deployments, deployment, and other military-unique situations.

Dr. Hickman also works with couples who are just beginning their  marital journey and want to learn marital enhancement strategies, and  
couples who are struggling to hold on to their relationship.  His hope  is to provide individuals and couples with a place of support, growth,
